For decades, Dixie’s paper plates have been there for families and friends to come together over a meal. But today, mealtime is being interrupted. Whether we’re texting, replying to emails, or agonizing over a Instagram photo of our plate, we’re all increasingly mesmerized by our phones.
Rather than simply asking people to put their phones away during meals, we decided to take meals to one place where our phones don’t work at all: dead zones.
We hunted down service-less oases in Los Angeles and built three Deadzone Diners, pop-up restaurants in places with no cell service serving dinner, breakfast and ice cream. Places where people can truly connect, free of digital distractions.
