This spring, the economic effects of COVID-19 began to take hold, underscoring immense systemic inequalities that disproportionately impact Black, Asian and Latinx communities and business owners. At a time when minority-owned businesses received less than 2% of all relief funding, community institutions that have been instrumental to the country’s success were about to disappear.
The program included an initial $3 million grant, and worked in tandem with organizations experienced in the fight for equity—One Hundred Black Men, Asian American Business Development Center, Hispanic Federation—to provide immediate relief for businesses across the country.
