This spring, the economic effects of COVID-19 began to take hold, underscoring immense systemic inequalities that disproportionately impact Black, Asian and Latinx communities and business owners. At a time when minority-owned businesses received less than 2% of all relief funding, community institutions that have been instrumental to the country’s success were about to disappear.

To help address this issue, we worked with Hennessy to launch Unfinished Business.

Hennessy — Unfinished Business

More than a traditional advertising campaign, Unfinished Business is an ongoing platform that provides immediate funding relief and long-term support to entrepreneurs of color.

The program included an initial $3 million grant, and worked in tandem with organizations experienced in the fight for equity—One Hundred Black Men, Asian American Business Development Center, Hispanic Federation—to provide immediate relief for businesses across the country.

We launched with a series of films, social assets, and an application microsite that garnered more than 15k applications within the first week.

By working with Hennessy to establish Unfinished Business as an ongoing program, Unfinished Business will to continue to provide additional funding and resources to these communities in the months—and hopefully years—to come.
